Askol ha brug pipe band
pipeband
Our association law 1901 was created in 1974 by a group of five people: Messrs. René Guilbaud, Patrick Pouchart, André Jutier, Jean-Luc Pouvreau and Patrick Jutier, all passionate about Scottish music within the framework of the activities of the Maison des Jeunes de Saint Herblain – near Nantes, and registered at the OJ in April 1977.
Askol is the oldest pipe band in France still in activity. After more than 38 years of presence at the Joli Mai in Saint Herblain, he had to look for a new rehearsal place.
The Municipality of Blain has been approached and offers its warm welcome to the Pipe Band. Since February 2016, Askol Ha Brug Pipe Band has been based at Château de la Groulaie in Blain.
The formation is made up of 38 members, 27 of whom are musicians, 10 bagpipes, 8 snare drums, 3 tenors and 1 bass drum, 1 Flag Bearer and a Drum Major and 3 people in bagpipe training.
